Place hands under warm water and rub together

Hang hand down below waist

Grasp finger near area to be pricked and squeeze gently for three seconds

Place finger on table or firm surface to avoid moving while pricking

If lancing device has dial-a-depth, increase setting by 1 level

Use new lancet every time you check blood sugar

If lancing device has dial-a-depth, decrease setting by 1 level

Use new lancet every time you check blood sugar

Try a thinner lancet or a different lancing device

Use sides of fingertips instead of fingertip pad

Try alternative test sites such as arm or thigh

Good luck. You can always check with a diabetic specialist in your endocrinologist’s office who can help you with this testing if needed.

You’d be better eating a sensible diet, I don’t like the sound of drinking so much sugar but that wouldn’t cause diabetes per se.

However if you are obese and have a long history of poor diet and lack of exercise you would be at increased risk of type II diabetes.

It wont cause diabetes but it will damage a lot of your internal organs – will you be eating normal food? It will be high in calories and raise your blood sugar levels quickly and then they drop very quickly and you will be very tired and listless. Most cleansing diets will tell you to avoid sugar? If your kidneys are in good working order your body will detox itself naturally. Eating vegetables will be better for you that the sugar as it doesn’t take as much insulin to digest them than it does sugar. I am type 2 diabetic

wait..youve got asthma and diabetes…wow unlucky dude..and i thought i was unlucky having type 1 diabetes..my average was like 5.4% once lol..its usually quite low which can be dangerous also

u no wot, just have to say if ur like me, the nhs will end up killing u. honestly, how many years have they been playing around with my diabetes? my dr even had the nerve to say to me “tell me what i should do?” DUH i have no idea otherwise do u think i’d b like this?! ppl on these programmes aren’t diabetic themselves so don’t appreciate how hard it is to sort out hence y u expect the nhs to know what they’re doing! *soz as u can tell things rn’t exactly going well*

There are similarities between type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes symptoms. Urination, thirst, weakness and weight loss being some. Others such as numbness, tingling and some others are more closely related to type 2 diabetes symptoms.

Difference between type 1 and type 2

What is Type 1 Diabetes?

Type 1 Diabetes is a disorder in which the body does not produce insulin (a hormone that aids in moving sugar from the blood to the cells). This type of diabetes can be due to a virus or autoimmune disorder in which the body does not recognize an organ as its own and attacks it. In this case the body attacks an organ known as the pancreas where insulin is made. This type of diabetes is usually diagnosed before age 40.
What is the treatment for Type 1 Diabetes?

Those with Type 1 Diabetes are required to take insulin injections to move sugar from the bloodstream.
What about Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 Diabetes occurs when insulin that the body produces is less efficient at moving sugar out of the bloodstream. Some sugar is moved out of the blood, just not as effectively compared to a person with normal insulin efficiency. High blood sugar is a result of this. Type 2 Diabetes used to be thought of as the adult onset type of diabetes. However, an alarming rate of children are now being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
How is Type 2 Diabetes Treated?

Diet, exercise, weight loss, and in many cases medication are the treatment for this type of diabetes. Occasionally, someone with Type 2 may be placed on insulin to better control blood sugar. This type of diabetes is associated with physical inactivity and obesity

I am always very happy when micksmixxx is answering questions in this forum. I would like to answer your question in 2 parts. The presentation of type 1 diabetes typically involves all of the following: increased appetite, weight loss despite increased appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, and feeling quite ill. Type 2 diabetes typically presents with vague or no symptoms at all. Once a person has diabetes symptoms are related to hyperglycemia and / or the damage that the diabetes causes. Thus other than presentation there is not much difference in the symptoms of the 2 types of diabetes. One qualifying comment is that type 1 diabetics tend to become more ill with acute and marked hyperglycemia than a type 2 diabetic. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. my mom does this to.. she checks me in the night and i fight her. im 17, soon to be 18 and going into college. thank you for helping me understand why she does this and how much of her life it takes away from her.. i will appreciate what she does more.. this video had my crying at the end with a better understanding. thank you
